The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR), State and Local Finance Division would like to remind you of the due dates for e-filing the Municipal Financial Report (MFR).
Due Dates

March 31, 2026 – for populations under 2,500

May 1, 2026 – for populations over 2,500
-
May 15, 2026 extension – DOR automatically grants an extension for all municipalities and counties. You do not need to send an extension request

Form C – for cities, villages, and towns with proprietary funds

MyDORGov; make sure to choose the correct form

Late Filing or Non-filing

If DOR does not receive a complete and accurate form by the due date
- Your county/municipality is charged with a late filing penalty, which:
- Reduces your General Transportation Aid payments
- Is calculated and imposed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation

If DOR does not receive your form, we may:
- Hire a certified public accountant to complete the form using your county/municipal records
- Charge your county/municipality for this service
