Utility filing deadlines approaching

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR), State and Local Finance Division would like to remind you of upcoming filing deadlines.

Reports due by:

March 2, 2026 (report or extension request due)

  • LM-003 – Municipal Light Heat & Power Annual Report
  • LP-003 – Private Light Heat & Power Annual Report

March 16, 2026 (report or extension request due)

  • RE-001 – Rural Electric Association Annual Report

May 1, 2025 (report or extension request due)

  • AC-001 – Airline
  • PI-001 – Oil Pipeline
  • PF-001 – Gas Pipeline
  • RA-001 – Railroad Annual Report
  • CR-800 – Conservation/Regulation
  • MP-800 – Association of Municipal Electrics

To request an extension

  1. Locate the account type in My Tax Account
  2. Select File/Pay/View Returns
  3. Select Request Extension to File
  4. Enter the filing period(s) you are requesting an extension for and select Submit. You will receive an error message if you cannot request an extension in My Tax Account for the requested filing period.
  5. Print a copy of the confirmation page for your records. You will be able to view the submission using the Submissions section under More... on the home screen.

Note: DOR will apply a non-appealable late filing penalty to all reports filed after the due date with no extension.

If you do not have a Registered My Tax Account

You or your representative must be registered as a user in MTA to e-file your annual reports. If you or your representative are:

  • Already registered, you don't need to do anything at this time
  • Not registered, please do the following to create a username and password
    • Go to MTA Logon screen: https://tap.revenue.wi.gov/mta/_/
    • Click "New? Create new username"
    • Complete new registration step 1 and select "Yes" to the question asking if you are a Third-Party Preparer
    • Complete Step 2 and once submitted and a Username has been assigned.  Contact the Utility staff at the email below to be granted acces​s to your companies form.
