Utility annual reports moving to MTA for 2023 filing season

October 4, 2022

To: Gross Revenue and Ad Valorem Utility customers

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue is upgrading the utility annual filing process for the 2023 filing season. We are moving the annual reports into our My Tax Account (MTA) e-filing system. This e-filing system rolls out in January 2023 and is a one-stop shop for account management, form filing, and bill payment.

MTA Benefits

  • Familiar – the changeover to MTA consolidates tax filing to a system most businesses already use to file and pay business taxes
  • Ease of use – MTA allows authorized users to complete many tasks, such as:
    • Request extensions
    • File returns
    • Make penalty payments
    • Modify and manage user access
  • Secure – no downloading forms using third-party software

Next Steps – register or create an MTA account

You or your representative must be registered as a user in MTA to e-file your annual reports.

  • Transition details – we will continue to keep you informed throughout this process
  • Gross revenue and ad valorem utility reports – live in MTA in mid-January 2023
