David Casey was appointed Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) by Governor Evers in April 2024. He had previously served as the deputy secretary of DOR from 2019 to 2022.
Casey has nearly 30 years of professional experience working with state tax agencies to help improve taxpayer service and compliance. Most recently, he served as a principal industry expert in tax compliance and fraud for SAS Institute in Cary, North Carolina.
Casey has also worked in public service as assistant to the city manager for the city of Vancouver in Washington, been a principal for American Management Systems in Fairfax, Virginia, served as a senior consulting manager for Deloitte Consulting LLP in Chicago, Illinois, and as an executive consulting manager for Revenue Solutions Inc. in Pembroke, Massachusetts.
Secretary Casey has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. Additionally, he holds a Master of Public Administration in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Casey resides in Madison with his husband Kevin, and they enjoy exploring Wisconsin’s lakes and parks all year round.
