Additional Time Allowed to Request Extension to File Federal Returns Due to Winter Storms Quinn and Skylar

The Internal Revenue Service is granting businesses affected by Winter Storms Quinn and Skylar in portions of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic additional time to request a six-month extension to file their 2017 federal income tax returns. Those taxpayers affected by the winter storms have until March 20, 2018, to request an extension to file their tax returns. Eligible taxpayers taking advantage of the six-month extension should file federal Form 7004 and write "Winter Storm Quinn" or "Winter Storm Skylar" on their extension request.

Any extension granted by the IRS for filing a federal return extends the time for filing the related Wisconsin return. When filing the 2017 Wisconsin return, include a copy of the federal extension request. An extension for filing does not extend the time to pay any taxes that are due.
