Income Tax Prepayment - Electronic Filing Option

Taxpayers who prepay all of their 2011 income tax can receive a Certificate of Exemption from Withholding (Form W-200) to give to their employer. The payment can be made by check or money order with Form A-115 (2011 Prepayment of Estimated Tax). To receive a Certificate of Exemption, taxpayers must make their 2011 pre-payment on or before December 31st.

New this year, taxpayers can also make their A-115 pre-payment electronically using the Wisconsin Department of Revenue electronic funds transfer system. Taxpayers will make their payment on the Department of Revenue website https://tap.revenue.wi.gov. Taxpayers should choose: "Individual Income Tax - W200" as their payment type. This electronic payment option will only be available from November 1st through December 31st each year.

Also new this year, taxpayers will no longer have to request the W-200 when sending in Form A-115. All taxpayers who make an A-115 pre-payment will automatically receive a Certificate of Exemption from Withholding (W-200). Form W-200 will be mailed to the taxpayer after the payment has been processed.
