2018 Assessment and Tax Roll XML – Update

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) posted the 2018 file transfer instructions to our website in early November. Please follow the new layout to successfully transfer 2018 rolls to DOR.

2018 Assessment and Tax Roll XML Schema Changes

  • July 12, 2017 – summary of 2018 changes provided to XML work group with request for testers
  • July 28, 2017 – test files submitted by one county
  • Counties may submit all municipalities at one time using two separate files (one for real property and one for personal property)
    • Note: This change does not impact those currently compliant with the schema; counties can continue to submit one municipality at a time
  • Situs address – city, state and zip elements are now optional
    • Note: An address location is still required, but these additional elements are now optional
  • Elements optional for:
    • Assessment and tax rolls
      • Occupational tax
      • State assessed telco
    • Personal property assessment and tax rolls
      • Forest taxable
  • Send DOR your public (redacted) data – we would like to maintain consistency with providing any data
