Wisconsin Estate Tax Expires January 1, 2008
The Wisconsin estate tax is based on the federal credit for state death taxes after December 31, 2007. There will be no federal credit for state death taxes for deaths occurring in 2008 through 2010. Therefore there is no Wisconsin estate tax for deaths occurring between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2010.
In the absence of further law changes, both the federal and Wisconsin estate tax will be restored for deaths occurring on or after January 1, 2011.
