Customer Service (Madison & Milwaukee) November through June

7:45 am - 4:45 pm

Respond to routine telephone calls and e-mail inquires from taxpayers related to their Wisconsin Income Tax returns. Interpret information found on internal tax systems, in forms, and publications to accurately respond to customer inquiries. Ability to ask in-depth questions of the customer in order to determine how to respond to an inquiry of the customer or to refer the customer to another area due to the complexity or type of inquiry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Advanced knowledge of customer service techniques; experience with multi-line phone systems; excellent verbal and written communication skills; researching skills; self-motivated; and ability to work in a team atmosphere.

Spanish and Hmong speaking applicants are encouraged to apply.

A minimum of 4 hours per day will be required.

Data Entry/
Data Verification
February through June

Day Shifts:
6:30 am - 4:00 pm

Night Shifts:
3:00 pm -11:30 pm

Function as a data entry or data verification operator. Data entry operators will enter data directly into a key-to-disk system using data capture processing applications software. Data will be keyed from a variety of tax documents. Some positions will re-verify originally keyed documents.

Data Verification Operators will interpret data fields from several types of tax forms, comparing images scanned from Optical Character Recognition software, and making appropriate corrections to data. Basically, this position is verifying and correcting data. Some entry may involve direct key entry of documents.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Accurate keyboarding skills of at least 45 words per minute or 6,000 keystrokes per hour; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to sit for long periods of time; able to work independently; attention to detail; and good eye-hand coordination.

Employees may be rotated between the two positions.

Work Hour Requirement: A minimum of 4 hours of work per day-day shift; a minimum of 5 hours of work per day-night shift.

Mail Review & Scanning Late January
through February

7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Perform complex sorting of various tax documents and correspondence by opening envelopes, reassembling tax documents, screening documents for missing information, coding returns, and sorting documents based on written procedures. Other duties may include preparing documents for scanning by inserting separator sheets between tax returns; processing monies received; screening and processing other information; and handling miss-sent mail.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions; ability to perform repetitive tasks; attention to detail; problem-solving skills; and ability to sit for long periods of time.

A minimum of 4-hours per day will be required.

Laborer: Positions will perform manual and physical labor duties within areas of the Department. Duties may include picking up documents, separating, boxing, and delivering them. Some positions may require the ability to lift 30-40 lbs.

General Clerical: Some positions will screen various types of forms for missing information, completeness and may correct missing and inaccurate information. Some positions may perform research using computer programs, reviewing and analyzing information from printed lists, tax returns and other information. Other positions will update records.
