Electronic Filing Options

  1. Can I file my Wisconsin sales and use tax return electronically?
  2. Can I make an electronic payment for the sales and use taxes I owe?

  1. Can I file my Wisconsin sales and use tax return electronically?

Currently you have three options available for electronic filing of your Wisconsin sales and use tax return:

    • My Tax Account is the Department of Revenue's free online business tax service that allows businesses to access their accounts to view current account status, file and amend returns, make payments, and manage and update account information. It's simple, secure and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. See My Tax Account for more information.
    • File Transmission is a secure process that provides a direct electronic interface between your system and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. Retailers can simply upload their Sales and Use Tax Returns in an electronic file for sales tax registrants and/or their representatives to transmit their sales/use tax return data to DOR via an electronic file over the Internet. See File Transmission for more information.
    • Sales TeleFile is an interactive voice response program that allows businesses to file Wisconsin Sales and Use Tax Returns using the telephone. The TeleFile program does not require a personal computer. For more information see the Sales TeleFile web site.

Go to E-Filing requirement for additional information.

  2. Can I make an electronic payment for the sales and use taxes I owe?

Yes. The Wisconsin Department of Revenue offers and accepts Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) as a payment method to pay your sales and use taxes using any of the filing methods listed above. My Tax Account allows payments for sales and use taxes at any time.

Note: To be considered timely, an EFT ACH Debit sales tax payment must be initiated by 4:00 p.m. Central Time on the payment due date. You also are required to file the corresponding paper or electronic Wisconsin sales and use tax return by the return due date.
