My Tax Account is the Department of Revenue’s free online business tax service that allows businesses to access their accounts to view current account status, file and amend returns, make payments, and manage and update account information. It’s simple, secure and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What business taxes can I file and pay online?
My Tax Account currently allows businesses to file online state business tax returns and electronic, pre-authorized payments for the following tax types:
- Business Tax Registration Renewal
- Local Exposition
- Premier Resort
- Rental Vehicle Fee
- Sales and Use
- Withholding
Tax types that may be available at a future date include estimated income tax payments, individual income tax, corporate/franchise income tax, partnership income tax, excise taxes, and the dry cleaning facility fee.
What information is required to register my business for My Tax Account?
For immediate access you must provide the following information:
- An individual Wisconsin Web Access Management System (WAMS) User ID and password
- Legal name of the business
- Business identification number
- Federal Employer’s Identification Number (FEIN)
- Social Security Number (SSN)
- Business zip code
- Recent tax returns for each business tax account type, specifically:
- 15-digit account identification number
- business tax account type
- specific tax line from one of the three most recently filed returns
- Line 30 for Sales Tax returns Form ST-12 and Line 12 on SIP Sales Tax return
- Line 9 for Local Exposition returns
- Line 4 for Premier Resort returns
- Line 7 for Rental Vehicle returns
- Liability amount for Withholding Tax returns
- OR the Letter ID# listed in the greeting letter in the business tax account new registrant packet. “WINPAS – atL678” is the form number listed in the lower left corner of the letter. The Letter ID# is listed in the upper right hand section below the date

You may immediately log in to My Tax Account to begin filing and paying your business taxes online once you receive a My Tax Account e-mail confirmation that your account has been activated.
You may use the Letter ID# listed on your registration greeting letter in your business tax account new registration packet, if you do not know the specified tax lines from one of your three most recent returns and/or you are a new registrant that has not filed a return yet.
- You must first create and activate your own individual unique Wisconsin Web Access Management System (WAMS) User ID at: https://on.wisconsin.gov/WAMS/SelfRegController.
- Once you have activated your WAMS ID, you may log in to My Tax Account using your WAMS ID and password to create your own My Tax Account User Profile in the “Customer Access Request” section at: https://tap.revenue.wi.gov. Please Note: My Tax Account is an application associated with and linked to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue’s WINPAS integrated tax processing system. In order to be able to use My Tax Account, all individuals and businesses must be a WINPAS registrant.
- Next, choose the proper registration option: (a) “Add Access to Account” for an employer/business owner, (b) “Add 3rd Party Account Access” for third party preparers, or (c) “Add 3rd Party Account for SIP User” if you are a previously registered Sales Internet Process (SIP) user. Complete the required fields to authenticate the business that you wish to register and associate to your individual user profile. You will need the business identification number (WTN or FEIN, or SSN), business real name, and business zip code.
- Add the tax account type(s) that you require access to. For authentication, you will need information from one of the three most recently filed tax returns or the Letter ID# listed in the greeting letter in the business tax account’s new registrant packet.
