Federal (IRS) Free File Alliance
To receive free or reduced rate electronic filing of your federal individual income tax return, you must go to the IRS Free File Alliance web page and select your software vendor through the IRS web site. The price of completing and e-filing your federal return depends on the software vendor selected and your individual filing situation.
If you file your federal and state returns together, most vendors will charge a fee for the Wisconsin income tax return. The Wisconsin Department of Revenue encourages you to investigate each software vendor and make an informed decision before you begin filing.
The department does offer Wisconsin e-file that provides free electronic filing of your Wisconsin state income tax return, to most Wisconsin full-year residents.
